About Carly

Hi! My name is Carly and I am an Accredited Clinical Exercise Physiologist and PhD candidate. I work, research, and teach in the exercise, well-being, and chronic condition space.

I started this service for a few reasons:

  1. To support the quality of life of individuals living with and beyond chronic conditions.
  2. To offer specialist care that is high quality while still being accessible.
  3. To share knowledge and support people make informed choices about their health.
  4. To create a space that is warm, enjoyable, and can foster good relationships with exercise.

My background: I have worked in the health industry across Australia and Scotland for the last decade. I have had the privilege to gain diverse experience alongside industry leaders working with many different health conditions. Some of which included:

  • Designing and delivering a service with the Scottish National Health Service to improve function in those with arthritis.
  • Working in clinics designing programs for individuals with cancer, neurological conditions, spinal cord injuries, heart conditions, metabolic conditions, and chronic pain.
  • Teaching and assisting university courses in exercise psychology, exercise prescription, and chronic disease management.
  • Receiving a scholarship to undertake my PhD in improving cancer care through integrating exercise and well-being practices.

My ongoing research: In short, my PhD explores how exercise and well-being may improve the effectiveness of cancer treatments (cardiotoxicity, tumour responses, and blood cell responses). The overarching goal is simply to create the best supports possible for individuals undergoing treatment.

As a bit of a research enthusiast, rest assured that this service is informed by high quality research to ensure the best outcomes for you.

The things that give my life joy outside of work: As someone who loves their work life balance, I will often have 3 different hobbies on the go at once. I am currently balancing playing AFL, sewing dresses, and trying to knit my first sweater.
